2007-08 Beacon Award Recipients

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCOUTS AWARDED MERITORIOUS AWARD FOR BRAVE & HEROIC ACTIONS Cub Scout Ryan Corbett received a heroism medal for using an evacuation plan--developed at a Scout meeting--to save himself and his mother before their home was engulfed in flames last year. The presentation was made during a National Court of Honor Ceremony at the Council's Annual Meeting and Recognition Dinner on May 23, 2007, at the St. Charles Convention Center. The 8-year-old Cub Scout is from Pack 363, chartered to the Nike Elementary School PTO in Catawissa, Mo. Joseph Trevor Howard, a 7-year-old Cub Scout, received a Heroism Award from the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America during the Greater St. Louis Area Council's Annual Meeting and Recognition Dinner on Wednesday, May 31. Last June, Joseph rescued his 4-year-old sister, Amelia, when she jumped into the deep end of a swimming pool at her father's apartment complex. 	Life Scout Michael Hertfelder was awarded the Honor Medal at the Greater St. Louis Area Council's Annual Recognition and Awards Dinner on May 24, 2004, for rescuing his two cousins from a swift-moving current.  The Honor Medal is awarded to those who demonstrate unusual heroism and skill or resourcefulness in saving or attempting to save life at considerable risk to self.  More...
	Courageous Tiger Cub Joseph Pizzella was awarded the Heroism Award at the Greater St. Louis Area Council's Annual Recognition and Awards Dinner on May 24, 2004, for saving 2-year-old Sawyer Ludwig from drowning.  The Heroism Medal is awarded to those who have demonstrated heroism and skill saving or attempting to save a life or in averting serious injury with minimum risk to self.  More..
