Swimming at Swift Base Mini-camp

You cant beat swimming in crystal-clear Nims Lake at the S bar F Scout Ranch.

On the day that you arrive, as soon as you get settled on your campsite, you will come down to the waterfront for our orientation and a swim check.  Well tell you how you can take out a canoe, or a kayak.  Well also tell you about our trip to Hucks Cove, where we have waterslides and water attractions right in the lake.

Scouts and leaders will qualify at the following swimming levels:

Learners-Just get in and splash around

Beginners-Swim 50 feet.  Jump into water over your head, swim 25 feet, turn around and swim back.  Its that easy!

Swimmers-Swim 100 yards as follows: Jump in over your head, swim 75 yards on your stomach or side, then swim the last 25 yards on your back.

After that you show that you can float and you are a swimmer.

Youll want to qualify as a swimmer to take out boats and be able to swim in all the swim areas.  If you dont qualify as a swimmer the first time, well help you improve so that you are a swimmer before you leave.

At Mini-camp youll swim at least twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
