Online Learning Center

Youth Protection & Online Training
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE BEFORE CONTINUING ON TO THE E-LEARNING SITE.

The National office has once again updated their online Youth Protection, Online Training and Fast Start Training. The new system has now changed over from logging in with an email address to a username.

When you are transported to the Online Learning Center, you will see several pictured boxes. These represent the training you want to do. Select desired training and it will take you to a different page where it will ask you to login with your username and password.

If the last time you logged in, it asked for an email address, use that as your login. After you successfully log in, it will ask you to create a username. Choose a name that is available and is easy to remember. You will use this from now on.

If you have never had an account, you will need to click on the link ‘Create an account’ and follow the directions on how to do so.

Once you are finished, it will ask you to fill out your profile. For your council, you will need to select from the menu and find Greater St. Louis Area Council. You will also need to put in your Member ID. This number is located on your registration card. If you do not have the card, you can call the number at the bottom of the page to retrieve it.

Please Note...
If you are creating you profile and it asks for the Member ID number and Council number, and it is not registering correctly when you know it's right, skip these boxes and leave them blank. There may be a technical issue with this option. You can go back at a later time to enter this information when you update your profile.

If you’ve successfully logged in, then it will take you to a new page. If you were unable to get past this step, please read the FAQ below to see if you are experiencing any of those issues. After successful login, there will be a menu to your left. To proceed with your training, you will need to click on the E-Learning link. This will take you to the E-Learning Course Management System. Next to the training of choice, you should see two links; Take Course | Review Course Choose a training you want and click on Take Course. You should be starting the new training.

When you complete the training, it should show the following links; Retake Course | Review Course | View Certificate. If the View Certificate link is not there, don’t panic!  You do not need to retake the course. There could be a few reasons why it’s not showing up. One reason is that it can take a while for it to register. Normally it comes up right away but it can take up to three days to show up. You could try logging out and logging back in to see if that will trigger it. Another reason could be that your browser on your computer is not compatible with it. You can try a different browser or a different version of the browser you are using on a different computer.

If you have not successfully logged in or did the training, please check the FAQ below to see if this might apply to you.

Please Note. . .

FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. When I complete the training, why doesn’t it show up as completed?

A. There are two things that you could try:

1)  After completing the training, shut down your browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape) completely. Re-open browser and log back into MyScouting When you log back in, click on the E-Learning link on the left side of the screen. Next to the completed training, it should show a hyperlink that says Retake Course | Review Course | View Certificate.  If it shows this, then your course was completed and you can print your certificate.

2)  You may have to wait a day or two for your profile to register. Especially if you created a new account and did the training right away. If it takes more than three days, call the Training department at the number listed below.

Q. What do I do if I forget my password?

A. Go into the MyScouting Logon page and find where it says ‘Forgot your password?’ and click on the here link to retrieve it. It should send you an email to the address you registered with and follow the directions on the link. If you do not receive the link, call the Training department at the number listed below. It will have to be manually done.

Q. What if I forget the email account I created a profile with or no longer have it?

A. If you tried to create another profile you can see that it will not work. It recognizes the BSA member ID number and will tell you that you already have an account created. Call the Training Department to retrieve the old email. When you get this, you will need to login with it. If you do not use the email anymore, you have the option to change the address in your profile.

Q. When I go into MyScouting, some of the pages freeze up and don’t show the information, why is this?

A. There could be several reasons for this:

1)  Your pop-up blocker on your computer may be on. You will need to disable it.

2)  You may be using Internet Explorer 8, the latest version, or Adobe Flash Player 10. These two programs are not supported with the new program. Anything older should work.

3)  The computer you are using may have restrictions on it. This is normal if you are using a company computer.

Q. What is my member ID number and how can I retrieve it?

A. First of all, you must be registered with the Boy Scouts to create an account. You should of received a registration card. That card will show your BSA member ID number. If you don’t have your card, you can call the Training Department who will be able to retrieve it for you.
