GRAND TOWERS SHOWS A DECREASE IN OVERALL CAN COUNT, BUT COUNCIL HAS INCREASE OVER 2007 BY MORE THAN 100,000 CANS

Members of Pack and Troop 201 take a break from picking up food on bag pickup day.

The Alpha Phi Omega Chapter at St. Louis University help out at the Vandaventer Fire Station.

Scouting for Food is America's Largest One-Day Food Drive. Next year should be bigger and better than this year. We have more active units and thus we should be collecting more food. Turn in your Scouting for Food commitment cards to Daron or Bryon at the June Roundtable.

We accept applications for the District Award of Merit year round. The knot for this award is shown above. Click the button above for the application. Our district is allowed to give out two District Award of Merits each year at the annual adult recognition dinner.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU!!! goes out to Kerry McEvoy and Marilyn Walker for agreeing to be our day camp directors for the summer 2009 Cub Adventure Camp in Forest Park. If you are interested in helping them with day camp, contact Kerry by clicking here. The theme for the 2009 camp is "Bugs Slugs, and Venus Fly Traps."

Another THANK YOU goes out to Darryl Franklin for his countless years of service as day camp director.

Day Camp is the pinnacle of the Cub Scout year... The theme for this year was "Go for the Gold" -- riding the theme of the Olympic Games (kudos to whomever made that decision). The amount of fun we had in Forest Park was of Olympic proportions. Fifty Cub Scouts participated in the two-day adventure camp. This is 100 percent more than the amount of youth we had in 2007. The day camp was filled with games, crafts and a trip to the zoo for a scavenger hunt (in the rain). While there were no gold medals given out, each Cub Scout received a "Go for the Gold" T-shirt and lunch.

We are already looking forward to next year's day camp, which will be held June 11-13 (that's right, a three-day adventure camp.) We will be back in Forest Park.

A special thanks goes out to Darryl Franklin (camp director), Yvonne Dukes, Ruby Binion, Paul Winter, Val Ferguson, Sue Thomas, Bob McRath, Jesse Trigg, Craig Piper, Jarret Datcher, Kerry McEvoy and Tom Thomas for their help and support of the day camp.
