CUB SCOUT BASIC LEADER TRAINING What does it take to be a "Trained" Cub Scout leader and wear the "Trained" patch on your uniform? This is Scouting (formerly New Leader Essentials, also available online) and leader-specific training! You can take both at Cub Scout Basic Leader Training. This is Scouting will be offered first; then there will be breakout sessions for leader-specific trainings (Tiger Cub den leader, Cub Scout den leader, Webelos den leader, Cubmaster and pack Committee member). |

BOY SCOUT BASIC LEADER TRAINING To be a "Trained" Boy Scout leader and wear the "Trained" patch on your uniform, you must complete This is Scouting (formerly New Leader Essentials, also available online), leader-specific training (Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters) and Introduction to Outdoor Skills.
Troop committee members are considered "trained" when they have completed This is Scouting and Troop Committee Training as their leader-specific training. Both are available online. |

VENTURING BASIC LEADER TRAINING This session is designed to introduce crew adult leaders to the basic information needed to operate a challenging and quality program. Both this course and This is Scouting (formerly New Leader Essentials, available online) are required for a Venturing leader to be "trained" and wear the "trained" patch on his or her uniform. |

ONLINE TRAINING: E-LEARNING
Now you can take many essential training courses online! From the National Council website (http://www.scouting.org/), click the Online Learning Center link at the left. To create an account, you will need your BSA membership number, located on your registration card. If you do not have your card, contact the service center to obtain your number. Upon completing a training course, your BSA training record will automatically update to reflect your progress. Here are some of the available courses:
