QUALITY UNIT FORM GUIDELINES
FOR RECHARTERING
The following information is provided to clarify the process of how units qualify for the quality unit award.
Units qualify for the national Quality Unit Award by meeting the requirements stated on the form by the close of the units charter year. Six requirements are needed to qualify for the Quality Unit Award. This includes the four starred (*) items plus a minimum of two additional items.
These requirements must be completed by the expiration of the charter year.
For example, a pack with a January 2004 recharter date must complete six requirements including the four starred items by Jan. 31, 2004. to earn the 2004 Quality Unit Award.
The only exception in completing requirements by the close of the units charter year involves the training requirement. If the unit had a trained leader(s) for at least six months of the charter year, but a new leader was selected too late to complete basic training before charter renewal, the council may still approve this item.
