Change: Our next Roundtable is Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. This will be our big Program Preview Roundtable. Please have a representative from your unit in attendance.
We have a new format to Roundtables. All Cub Scout leaders who are interested in the Craft of the Month should come at 6:30 p.m., while Boy Scouters and anyone else should arrive by 7 p.m. Roundtables are held at First United Methodist Chuch, 500 N. Main in Poplar Bluff.

See you there!!
CUB SCOUT LEADER TRAINING Training for all Cub Scout Leaders will take place Tuesday evening, Sept. 23, at the First Methodist Church, 500 N. Main in Poplar Bluff. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with the sessions beginning promptly at 6 p.m. We will begin with New Leader Essentials, and then go into job specific training for den leaders, Webelos leaders, Cubmasters and their assistants, and members of the pack committee.
We ask that you take Youth Protection on-line prior to attending and bring along your print-out that shows your completion. You access Youth Protection Training from the council website home page.
Cost is $15 per leader, which includes a leader's manual. If you already have a leader's manual, the fee is only $3. Please bring your manual as we will be referring to it in our sessions.
We are combining more than one evening's information into one session, so we start early and go later than normal to save you another trip and night. We will provide light snacks.
We ask that all preregister so that we can be prepared for you. Contact Lynda Nobles at rick-nobles@sbcglobal.net or call 573-686-3502. Get ready for a great year of Cub Scouting adventure!

Three adult leaders and your district executive participated in Wood Badge this year. A big hand goes out to Guy Vincent, John McDonough, Kendra Asher as well as Shawn Long for braving the heat and wanting to better themselves and their units.
One adult leader also participated on the training staff for Wood Badge. Our very own training chairman, Lynda Nobles, was the troop guide for the buffalo patrol. If you are interested in participating in next year's Wood Badge, see any one of these participants and they will tell you what you need to know!!

NEWS FROM THE PUBLIC RELATIONS DESK Let's add local churches to the distribution list so that Scouting announcements can be included in their Sunday bulletins.
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do. - Eleanor Roosevelt
At our district dinner in January, Scouts in Troop 200 of Dexter were honored with a American flag that flew over an American embassy in Iraq .
Has your unit been in the paper? Send us the link and we will post it on our website!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TROOP NEWS Here's another great way to publicize your troop -- online. Check out Troop 200's new website at www.freewebs.com/bsatroop200/.
TROOP 200 PRESENTS FLAGS AT MARION MINERS BASEBALL GAME

Seven adults and 23 boys from Troop 200 loaded up and went to the Marion Minors Baseball home opener on May 24. The troop honor guard presented the U.S., Illinois, Missouri and troop flags during the "Star-Spangled Banner." This year boys from the troop brought out a very large American flag, which usually sits in front of American Superstore. This flag followed behind the honor guard into center field. The large flag was being waved while the national anthem played.
The crowd was asked to stand while Troop 200 presented the colors from center field and remain standing even after the "Star Spangled Banner" was finished as the troop removed the colors. The ball park recognized Troop 200 of Dexter, Mo. The crowd then gave the troop a big round of applause.
Great job, 200!!

Please make sure every school, public library and chamber of commerce in Sioux District has information on Scouting. Your chartered organization should also have information readily available.
The district would like for each community to have personalized Scouting information -- unit leader's name, number, meeting night, place, etc. This is especially helpful when a new family moves into town. Your handout will also be great to distribute at School Nights. Many times, parents leave a sign-up not knowing the next meeting date or leader's telephone number. This information will help solve that problem!
As you complete your information sheet or brochure, please bring a copy to Roundtable for the district display. Download a sample of the Unit Info Handout.
Thanks for your help. Let's get the information out and give each boy the chance to be a Scout!

NEW SQUARE KNOT FOR VOLUNTEER UNIT ORGANIZERS

The new William D. Boyce New-Unit Award recognizes volunteers who organize one or more new traditional units. To qualify, seek approval from the district to serve as the organizer to complete the successful organization of one new traditional unit (pack, troop, crew). Information about this new recognition is available at Roundtable!

I'm reminded of a story about four people, Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important event to be done and Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it. Somebody became angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody would do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody, when actually Nobody asked Anybody.
