2008 SPRING RECRUITING
Spring recruiting is extremely important to our program. Strong units provide the best program for our Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers. New members -- along with a strong program -- get more adults involved. The following are the 2008 spring recruiting plans for packs, troops and crews. Contact your district executive for assistance.
Cub Scout Spring Recruiting Plan
With exciting summertime activities just a few months away, you are encouraged to invite boys and their parents to join your pack along with re-inviting former Cub Scouts who did not recharter. Provide information regarding your March and April pack meetings at Roundtable or contact your district executive with this information. Fliers will be prepared and delivered to your school. Prospective members can participate in your regularly scheduled pack meeting while your designated Scout leader talks to parents about their son’s membership in your pack.
Boy Scout Spring Recruiting Plan
__Appoint a troop membership chairman.
__Target fifth- and sixth-graders.
__Hold a rally featuring a model campsite and interesting activities at a school, church or shopping mall.
__Utilize high-adventure surveys to obtain contact information for new Boy Scout prospects.
__Invite boys to a troop open house.
__Make a personal phone call to parents.
__Hold a troop open house. Provide information regarding your open house at Roundtable or contact your district executive with this information. High-adventure surveys will be provided. If requested, fliers will be prepared and delivered to your school.
Venturing Spring Recruiting Plan
Schedule a crew open house this spring and invite new members to join. Target eighth-grade boys and girls. Provide information regarding the open house date at Roundtable or contact your district executive. If requested, fliers and/ or posters can be prepared by the council office for distribution.
For All Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts & Venturers. . .
Every Scout who gets a friend to join qualifies for a recruiter patch, which celebrates the 100-year tradition of Scouting. Units who hold an open house will qualify for Cardinals baseball game tickets. Cardinals tickets will be dispensed on a first-come, first-served basis for units who held an open house and returned the ticket request form distributed at the April Roundtable meetings.
