10-14 - St. Louis Boat & Sportshow: This annual event returns to the Edward Jones Dome and America's Center, including the return of the most popular event: DockDogs! DockDogs is a dog jumping contest where canines from all over the country compete against each other in three separate events: the Big Air, the Speed Retrieval, and the Extreme Vertical. Visitors to the 2010 St. Louis Boat and Sportshow can bring their own dogs to the show or simply watch the pros. DockDogs kicks off on Wednesday, February 10 at 6:00 pm, with events running at various times throughout the duration of the show. Admission to the Boat and Sportshow is $9 for adults, $5 for youth 13-15 years old, and FREE for children 12 and under.

13 - "Citizenship in the World" Badge Fair: For the past eight years, Worldways Children's Museum has presented the "Citizenship in the World" Badge Fair. The program has been taken over by a new company called "Kids Around the World," but it will still be conducted the same way as in past years. The fair will feature presentations by the American Red Cross, United Nations Association, Citigroup, and other national and international agencies. Boy Scouts interested in working on this badge will have the chance to listen to and speak with the presenters from these organizations.
The fair will be held at Chapel of the Cross Church in Saint Louis County from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Scouts only need to attend one full day in order to complete the requirements. 27 & 28 - Scout Days at the Saint Louis Science Center: This is a special day for Scouts at the Science Center. Instructors will be doing Scout workshops all weekend long. The Scout Days schedule will tell you when specific workshops are happening. There will also be discounts at the Discovery Room, Omnimax, and Planetarium for Scouts in uniform! Prices for the workshops are $6 per workshop per Scout for non-member Scouts, or $5 per Scout for member Scouts. Chaperones are free.
21 - Spring Programs at the St. Louis Zoo: Want to spend the day at the Zoo and earn a Wildlife Academics Pin (Cub Scouts) or a Sharing Your World with Wildlife Achievement (Bears)? The Spring Program is $5/Scout and includes a booklet to guide you through the activity stations. 26-28 - Gem, Mineral, Jewelry, and Fossil Show: The Rock Hobby Club of Greater St. Louis is presenting its annual show at the Machinists' Auditorium at 12365 St. Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton. Feature exhibits include Gold Specimens by Glenn Williams and a display from Mastodon State Park, and a demonstration on the Flint Napping Art. Minerals, cutting materials, findings, tools, and other jewelry making supplies will be available for purchase.
Food and beverage service is provided; parking is free. Children under 12 accompanied by an adult are always admitted free, as well as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. A portion of gate receipts will be given to the AFMS Scholarship Fund and to GSLAESC Scholarship Fund. Show hours are Friday 4-9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

27 - Confluence Trash Bash: Volunteers are needed to help clean up at the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge and sites along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. School groups, service organizations, church and corporate groups, familes, and interested individuals will be working with area Stream Teams and over 60 municipalities in St. Louis and St. Louis County. Volunteers are needed both on land and in the water. Prizes will be awarded for the weirdest, largest, or most valuable items found during the clean up. 23-25 - World War II Weekend at Jefferson Barracks Park: More than 350 re-enactors will portray American, British, Canadian, Russian and German soldiers in authentic World War II living history camps at Jefferson Barracks Park. Along with the soldiers, there will be a large collection of authentic gear, uniforms, weapons and vintage millitary vehicles on display. Highlighting the weekend are three battle re-enactments, held a short distance from the camp.
Troops are welcome to schedule tours on Friday, or for self guided tours on Saturday and Sunday. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, with battle re-enactments at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, and noon on Sunday. 13 - Jaycees Soap Box Derby: The local competition of the All-American Soap Box Derby is accepting entries for the annual Soap Box Derby. The race is open to boys and girls ages 8-17 (as of August 1, 2010). Entrants must compete in official Soap Box Racers, available for purchase from the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, OH. Winners of the St. Louis race advance to Akron for the international finals in July. Entry fee is $100 and is strictly limited to the first 50 entrants. St. Louis Symphony: Established in 1880, the St. Louis Symphony is one of the oldest and finest symphonies in the country. Groups of 20 or more receive a significant discount when booking their tickets.

Basic Aid Training - 4-hour first-aid program for kids ages 9-12. $15 per child.
Babysitting 101 - 4-hour introduction to the basics, including the business aspect, child development, safety/first-aid, and games. $24 per child.
Staying Home Alone - 2-hour class to help parents and children determine the child's readiness and to help prepare them for the experience. $20 per parent & child.
Helmet Safety Check - kids bring their own helmet and a trained safety expert will check it for a proper fit; parents and children will learn how to continue the safety practice at home. New helmets available for $8. Twenty or more participants required for this class.
St. John's Mercy Children's Hospital offers the following programs for Scouts:
CPR and First Aid - These American Heart Association participation and certification courses are for leaders and Scouts 12 years and older. Learn adult, child and infant CPR skills and first aid for choking.
Home Alone - Prepares children ages 9 to 11 to use self-care, safety techniques and simple first aid when on their own at home.
Fixer-Uppers - Children ages 9 to 11 learn basic first aid skills. Meets Webelos first aid badge requirements.
Pre-teen Esteem - Children in grades 5 and 6 learn about self-esteem, body changes, making healthy choices and dealing with peer and parent relationships.
Safety Smarts - Children ages 6 to 8 (or grades 1 to 3) learn healthy habits and personal safety smarts. Includes germ-buster presentation with hand-washing light.
Sitter Skills - Prepares children ages 11 and older for a safe and positive babysitting experience.

The St. Louis Science Center presents the Life Science Lab Patch Program. In a recently installed Life Science Lab, Scouts can conduct experiments in an authentic lab setting, dressing in lab attire while extracting DNA, examining fingerprints and solving crimes. Every Scout can be a scientist and receive a gallery patch! The program is $15 per person, and includes an hour allocated for each Scout meeting and Life Science Lab experience, a snack and beverages, free parking and a Life Science Patch.
