A Scout Executive Selection Committee, led by council president David L. Steward, asked for a survey to be conducted in late October, 2010, to provide input into the selection process. The committee was formed after Scout Executive John M. Primrose retired in September after 37 years of service.
The Selection Committee asked for input from a wide range of stakeholders on the council's strengths, needs, and the desired attributes in the next Scout Executive. The Selection Committee is comprised of members of the council executive board and assisted by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
The survey was anonymous. Respondents were asked to identify themselves as a member of one of five groups: Board members, volunteers, parents who are not volunteers, staff members, and community members who are not in one of the above categories.
A total of 157 people submitted 1,604 comments. The summary, found in the links in the right column, was presented to the Selection Committee on Nov. 9, 2010.
