The success of your troop's week at summer camp is many times determined by the quality of the staff serving you. If you have a Scout in your troop who will be 15 years old and an Eagle Scout by June 1 of the camp year -- and who you believe would make a good staff member - encourage him to apply for staff. Also, Explorers and Venturers (male and female) will be interviewed for positions at the Swift Base.
New: There will be some positions open to females on the Camp May staff in 2012.
Camp staff provides a great opportunity for a young man or woman to broaden their Scouting contacts, improve their leadership skills and serve the thousands of Webelos, Scouts, Explorers, Venturers and leaders who attend our camps each year.
Salaries range from $195 to $350 per week depending on years of experience and the summer assignment. Camp staff members also have the opportunity to earn college scholarships ranging from $250 to $1,250 on a yearly basis.
Room and board is provided to each camp staff member. Additional information on salaries and scholarship is provided during the interview process.
Position Minimum Requirements
- Counselor (S bar F, Camp May & Lewallen): age 15 and an Eagle Scout
- Program Counselor (Swift): age 18
- Administrative Aides: age 15 and Life Scout
- Food Service (S bar F): age 15
- Area Directors (Scoutcraft, Nature, and Archery): age 18
- Area Directors (Program, Aquatics, and Field Sports): age 21
- Wranglers: age 18
- First Aider/Nurse (Camp May & Lewallen): age 18
- Business Managers: age 18, previous service
- Commissioners: age 18
