Friends of Scouting
Friends
of Scouting is the annual fundraising campaign that provides 25% of the Greater
St. Louis Area Council's revenue. This in turn supports the four council camps,
four service centers, camperships, accident and liability insurance for scouts
and scouters, professional staff support, and so much more.
A
successful Friends of Scouting campaign is essential in order for the Greater
St. Louis Area Council to provide services and programs for tens of thousands
of youth each year.

How
can you help?
Schedule a Presentation
Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops and Venture crews are asked to schedule a
10-minute Family Friends of Scouting campaign presentation during their Blue
& Gold banquet, Court of Honor or other gathering of members and parents.
If your unit has not done so, please contact us as soon as possible and let us
know when you would like your presentation.
Educate your Unit
Many parents don’t realize that unit dues support national and unit level
activities, but none of the dues money goes to the St Louis Area Council.
Friends of Scouting fills that gap.
Make a Donation
When you unit has their presentation, contribute as you see fit. A pledge of
$37 each quarter for one year supports one scout, but any amount is
appreciated.
Use Corporate Matching
Many companies will match - dollar for dollar - contributions of $25 or more.
Find out if your employer participates in this program, then indicate this on
your pledge card and request a matching gift form from your employer to
initiate the process.
Become a 2013 Friend of Scouting and help us guide our youth toward
making the right choices.
Camp Cards
The camp card is designed to help Scouts earn their way to summer resident camp, high-adventure camp, family camp, and Cub day/evening camps. Units participating in this program earn 50 percent commission ($2.50) for each $5 Camp Card they sell. The program is RISK FREE. Units can simply return any unsold cards by April 30.
Popcorn Sale
Units that are financially sound can spend more time and resources on providing a fun and challenging year-round program. The popcorn sale also benefits the council as a whole by helping us serve volunteer leaders and members by providing better programs and camping facilities.
Thank you to Popcorn Chairman Mary Knapp and Vice Chairman Shannon Walker for a successful 2012 Popcorn sale!
