Having every leader trained leads to active units, increased retention and most importantly a well-rounded youth leader. The council's goal is to have all top leaders (Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Varsity Coaches, and Skippers) trained by the end of December 2010. We will employ a several approaches to accomplish this:
If you are in a "Direct Contact Leader" position and have not been trained, we encourage you to attend District Basic Leader Training at the dates and times listed below. If these do not fit into your schedule, check out the other district training dates and see if you can find one that works for you
Training also is available during Boy Scout summer camp. If all you need is Introduction to Outdoor Skills, you can attend the Voyager Program each morning Monday through Friday and inform the camp office that you are there for training. If you need Troop Committee Training or Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster training, you will need to attend training at the Health Lodge by the Ranch Headquarters every afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. Venturing training is offered by the camp director at Swift Base.
If none of these options fit your schedule, then you will need to contact Terry Madden, the Gravois Trail District Training Chairman, at terrymadden1@aol.com and see if there can be an alternate training session. Many trainings can be taken online at http://olc.scouting.org Use your membership number on your ID card to sign-in. If you are new to Scouting and do not have a membership number, please create a new user name and password. Every time you complete a training session, print out the certificate provided and turn it into your Unit Leader or Committee Chairman.
