New Horizons Eagle Board of Review

Chairman: Paul Ke

*Note: Paul does not schedule Boards of Review. To schedule an appointment, please call the coordinator listed below for the week you wish to attend.

Eagle Boards of Review meet on the first, second and fourth Wednesday of each month, 7 to 9 p.m., at Parkway United Church of Christ, 2841 N. Ballas Rd., St. Louis, MO  63131 (just north of Clayton Road -- the new church on the west side of Ballas on the lower level).

To schedule an appointment, please call the coordinator below for the week you wish to attend.  Appointments are not scheduled via e-mail; however, they are happy to answer your questions.

Appointment Reminders:
-Prior to calling for project proposal appointment, please make sure that you have obtained all of the required signatures (benefiting organization representative, unit leader, and committee member).
-Before requesting a final Eagle Board of Review appointment, all of your paperwork should have been turned in to Council for approval and returned to you.
-When leaving a message, please speak slowly and make sure to leave your name and phone number so that your call can be returned.  The weekly coordinators often receive calls but no phone number to call.

Scouts with Special Needs:
Parents & Leaders - If you have a Scout with special needs, help us help your Scouts.  Please feel free to let the weekly coordinator or Miriam Love know.  We have specially trained reviewers that we can ask to participate.

Eagle Scout Project Reminder:
The requirements from the National Council are clear that an Eagle Scout project cannot be routine maintenance. There are some projects that the beneficiary would like to have done that might be a GREAT Troop service project but NOT an Eagle Scout project.  Recommendation - if it's questionable that the project proposal might be considered maintenance by the board, encourage your Scouts to expand the scope to include an additional element so that the maintenance project is not the entire focus.

New! Information for Project Beneficiaries
We received a new handout that was developed by National that the Scout can give to their benefiting organization representative that provides important information relative to an Eagle Scout Project.  We strongly encourage Scouts to incorporate this into their project proposal planning!  The new form is available below.

Eagle Project Fundraising Application Form
Reminder - The form must be signed by the benefiting organization, the Scoutmaster, and then the Scout contacts the weekly Eagle Board Chair for review and approval.

Eagle Board of Reviewers Needed:
The number of Scouts that we can see on Eagle Boards is directly related to the number of reviewers that volunteer!  We are looking for additional people to volunteer to become reviewers!  You do not have to be registered in Scouting to serve.  If you would like to learn more or would like to help, please contact Paul Ke at 314-691-4674
