"The purpose of the Pinewood Derby is to help the Cub Scout build a team relationship with their parent or helper, experience the sense of accomplishment and the excitement of competition, learn Win/Lose good sportsmanship, and to have fun."

Welcome to the home of the 2014 New Horizons Pinewood Derby. On this site you will find important information about the event including contact information, race schedules, rules and results after the race. We have also included some helpful links that may help your Scout build his car.

Registration (New Process)

This year we will use our new pack registration process that we introduced last year. Please see the 2014 Rules and Registration page for details.
All packs need to register prior to the race. Scouts must registers as part of the Pack.  No individual registrations will be taken. Please make sure all racers are familiar with the 2014 race rules. All pack registration forms online or paper must be received with payment by January 15, 2014.

District Pinewood Derby Committee Members needed

The New Horizons District Pinewood Derby Committee is looking for additional members to help us out. If you have thought about getting involved in Scouts at the district level, being on a committee is a great place to start. Please email if you are interested in helping us plan and organize this fantastic once-a-year event.

Pack Volunteers

It is required that each participating pack provide 1 volunteer to work the district race event.  The new volunteer process introduced last year, will remain the same.  Packs will be scheduled to work a shift at the event.  We will do our best to insure that the shift will not conflict with the pack's race time.  The pack volunteer must be available to work the entire shift.  There will be a mandatory volunteer meeting prior to the race that all volunteers must attend.  The meeting will be at Parkway West High School, Feb 20th at 7pm in the cafeteria.  Please plan to send ALL volunteers to this meeting.
