Community for Scouting

On November 17th 2012 more than 30,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers collected 2 million cans of food and other non-perishable items. That food was distributed to 500 local food pantries.

Scouts in our Council provided more than 121,600 hours of service back to their communities.

Memorial Day Good Turn- Over 4,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers placed an American flag on each of the 189,000 graves at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

In 2012 we had a 671 Scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout. This is the largest class of Eagle Scouts in the Council’s history.

The cost of our Cub Day Camps is $60 per week compared to other local day camps whose prices range from $90 to $220 per week.

70.4% (more than 7,000) of our Boy Scouts (age 11-18) attended a long term camp of 3 nights or more in 2012.

To ensure that every boy had the chance to go to camp, we provide 551 Scouts with Camping Scholarships.

The Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, has served our community since 1911, shaping the lives of young people by fostering the development of a strong values-centered life and training the leaders of tomorrow through a partnership with families and communities.
