Annually, the Greater St. Louis Area Council hosts several special events to help drive funding and networking through active participation by local business and community leaders. These include the Sporting Clays Classic and Southern Illinois Bass Tournament.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS BASS TOURNAMENT
On May 14-15, 2011, nearly 200 competitive teams fished Crab Orchard Lake in Southern Illinois for the elusive "big bass." More than $4,500 was raised to benefit Scouting programs of the Greater St. Louis Area Council. A special thanks is owed to the Crab Orchard Lake Bass Club who for the 37th year, hosted, organized, and executed a fantastic event. (2012 statistics are not available.)
The 2013 event will be held on May 18.
On June 15, 2012, more than 80 shooters competed in teams of four for the
Hager Cup travelling trophy. A 12-station course at Strathalbyn Farms in
Weldon Spring, Mo., was the site for the event. The tournament and
auction raised more than $70,000 in support
of the council. We are
grateful for the help and direction received from Executive Board member Steven Busch, who led the event, and the rest of the
committee: Josh Hager, David Helms, Chris
Hyams, Todd Keske, Eric Kirberg, Garrett Lyell,
Rick Oertli, David Pollnow, and
Andy Spann.
The 2013 event will be held on June 7.
