HIGH RIDGE, Mo. (Sept. 28,
2012)—More than 1,200 boys and girls, ages 14 through 20, in the Boy Scouts of
America’s
Venturing
program will camp and take part in dozens of outdoor activities during the 39th
annual
Fall Fun Rally at Beaumont
Scout Reservation. The theme for this
year’s event is “Harry Potter” and will be the largest Venturing activity in
the Midwest and one of the largest in the nation. The event starts on Friday evening, Sept. 28,
and runs through Sunday morning, Sept. 30.
Here are a few of the activities the youth members will take part in:
-U.S. Marshals Service
demonstration
-Field Sports (archery, rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting)
-Climbing Tower instruction
-Fencing
-Robotics
-Tours of Mud Cave
-Horseback Riding
-V-Box (a maze of horizontal obstacles similar to a squeeze box jungle gym)
Youth and adults also will conduct
training programs to develop stronger outdoor programs for Venture crews and
enhance leadership skills. Youth members
will elect Venturing Officers for 2012-13 at the council and district levels on
Saturday afternoon.
