Hundreds of new Cub Scouts got their first taste of Scouting during the Greater St. Louis Area Council's Day One events Saturday. Activities were held at Beaumont Scout Reservation in St. Louis, Broemmelsiek Park in St. Charles and Pine Ridge Scout Camp in Southern Illinois to provide families several convenient locations to choose from.
New Cub Scouts had the opportunity to shoot bb guns and slingshots, experience a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) experiement, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, play in a bounce house and put together a few crafts. Some Scouts even made their own snack after practicing campfire cooking with pancake batter.
Siblings also had the opportunity to participate making the outing a fun family event. Cub Scouts received a unique patch for visiting.
One last Day One event is scheduled for Oct. 12 at Pine Ridge Scout Camp. Participants have the option to camp overnight. More information and the registration form is available here.
