An
exhibit that highlights the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of
America will be in St. Louis in August. Adventure
Base 100 will be at Ballpark Village on Aug. 20-22. The hours of operation will be,
- Friday, Aug. 20; noon to 6 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 21; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 22; 10 a.m. to noon
Adventure Base 100 unfolds into a 10,000-square
foot campus of interactive Scout-related experiences.
The
exhibit started at the Rose Bowl in January and will be at the National
Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia in early August. The 40th and final stop will be at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. The exhibit gives people an exciting,
hands-on experience of the history and future of the BSA.
“The goal is to bring Scouting to life in a
relevant and meaningful way that will connect to current Scouts and Scouters and appeal to people not currently involved with Scouting,
but who might be interested in joining,” said Janice Babineaux, director of the
National Scouting Museum and BSA Adventure Base 100 project lead.
The campus has the following features:
A
recruitment and registration tent
A
“Go Scouting!” Dome, which is a multi-sensory experience that uses an IMAX-like
domed screen, smells, and sounds to make visitors feel like they are a
part of the action
A
ropes course and zip line
A
traveling Scouting museum
A
stage, time capsule, VIP
tent, green screen experience, Scout store, and sponsor tents.
