Railroading Merit Badge Skill Center
Railroading Merit Badge
June 5 and June 8, 2012
This day-long workshop addresses the Railroading Merit Badge. While traveling on an Amtrak train between St. Louis and Springfield, Illinois, scouts will learn the ins and outs of railroading from history to safety to economics, presented by National Park Service staff. In Springfield, boys will have the opportunity to explore the Lincoln sites also with National Park Service staff.
About 4-6 weeks before the workshop, scouts will receive a packet of workshop logistics and details and several pre-workshop activities. Completion of the pre-workshop activities and all workshop sessions will fulfill all Railroading Merit badge requirements.
Reservations are required and space is limited. The workshop begins and ends at the St. Louis Amtrak Station. Presentations will happen aboard the Amtrak Rail System and Lincoln National Historic Site. The workshop is free. Amtrak tickets will run between $15 and $25 per person.
